The Art Department services the Film, Television, Commercial and Entertainment industries of South Africa.

We offer specialized services in:

 Production Design, Art directing, Set Building, Prop hire & Prop making.

In addition to our Film related services, we do interior design, offering inspired, modern and original designs, space planning, manufacturing and project management.

With our spacious and well equipped premises and a very enthusiastic and competent  team, The Art Department offers a complete service. 

The process is all done in-house which ultimately saves time and money.

Flo Ballack heads up the The Art Department team. Originally from a corporate creative background,  she has a wealth of experience in advertising, marketing and display. Flo pursued her childhood dreams to make movies by joining the Film industry on the creative side more than ten years ago. Since then she has worked on several international features, such as Duma, Hotel Rwanda, Wah-Wah, Jerusalem Entjha and countless commercials and Television series. Producers and Directors quickly picked up on her obvious talent, drive and enthusiasm. With great flair and strong leadership qualities, she swiftly moved up the ladder.

Flo also designed the interiors of several advertising agencies, promotional houses, clubs and restaurants. Her exhibitions stands have won several awards.

 Soon after its inception, Michael Quigley joined The Art Department, bringing with him all the technical experience required to offer professional services. Michael, a creative in his own right, with extensive knowledge of all aspects of building, construction, restoring and renovating, started his career off in Cape Town dealing in antiques and collectables. He soon moved on to restoring old and classic buildings, furniture and other collectables. Michael is renowned for his high standard of workmanship and attention to detail. He left the Mother city and spent the next couple of years traveling Europe, the East, Australia and part of the USA, gaining more experience in all aspects of the creative industry wherever he went. On returning to SA in 2000 he focused his interest on the gaming industry, restoring pinball machines, arcade games and gambling machines. Ever searching for new challenges, The Art Department seemed a natural progression and the film industry an exciting new challenge for him.
